The symptoms are treated and managed. But the pattern underneath — the one that generates the symptoms — was left untouched.

That is what we treat: the root.

Most people living with chronic fatigue are living with one of these.

Tired but wired

Exhausted, but unable to rest

You are tired all the time and yet sleep does not restore you. Your mind races at bedtime. There is a low hum of anxiety that never quite leaves. You have tried everything. And you are still, as one of my patients put it, so f*cking exhausted.

Your nervous system is stuck in survival mode. Your body doesn’t believe that you are safe — that you can rest. It is still running on emergency reserves every hour of every day. This is why rest does not restore you. This is why meditation helps a little but never quite enough.

Common diagnoses
Generalised anxiety · PTSD · Complex trauma · Adrenal fatigue · Burnout · Fibromyalgia · Chronic insomnia · Hashimoto’s

Not bothered, not excited

Surviving, but not thriving

Your energy sits at a five out of ten and has for years. You get through the day. Nothing is wrong exactly — but nothing lights you up either. Not unwell. Just flat. Grey. Going through the motions. You tell everyone you’re fine.

At some point, in order to cope, you learned to turn the volume down on what you feel. The difficult emotions got quieter. But so did the good ones. Joy, excitement, desire, aliveness — they all got muffled. You didn’t lose your energy. You buried it.

Common diagnoses
Mild–moderate depression · Dysthymia · Subclinical hypothyroidism · Low libido · Emotional numbness

The brain fog

Heavy, slow, unable to think straight

You cannot think clearly. Your body feels heavy. Your mind is slow. You forget things you used to hold easily. Mornings are hard. You reach for sugar, caffeine, whatever gets you through the next few hours. You know it’s not helping. You know — and you keep doing it anyway.

The fog is not the problem. It is the byproduct of what your body is being asked to do. The very things you reach for to pick yourself up — sugar, comfort, numbing — build metabolic waste in the system. Weight that won’t shift. Skin that won’t clear. Unexplained cysts and fibroids. A mind that cannot see a thought through. You are not broken. Your body is clogged — and everything you reach for to get through the day makes it worse.

Common diagnoses
Hypothyroidism · PCOS · Metabolic syndrome · IBS · Long COVID · ADHD-type presentations

How is this different from the acupuncture I have already tried?

Most acupuncture treats the presenting symptom using a pattern-differentiation framework from standard TCM. What I practise works across the complete channel system — including the deeper reservoir channels that standard approaches rarely reach. Most people who have tried acupuncture elsewhere notice a different quality of effect from the first session.

Is this suitable for burnout, post-viral fatigue or long COVID?

Yes. These are among the most common presentations I see. Burnout, post-viral fatigue and long COVID all share the same underlying pattern in Chinese medicine — a depletion of the body’s foundational reserves. Treatment is adapted to your individual presentation and current capacity. You do not need to push through sessions. The pace is always yours.

Do I need a diagnosis before booking?

No. Whether you have a formal diagnosis such as ME/CFS or are simply feeling persistently exhausted and unwell, we can assess and work with your current state. Many of the people I see do not have a diagnosis — they have symptoms that have not yet been properly explained. That is exactly what the first visit is for.

How long does treatment take?

I work in three-month intervals — enough time for real, observable change in both the mind and the body. At the end of your first visit I will tell you what milestones we are working toward and what you will notice along the way. Many people continue beyond the initial three months, but you will know within that period whether this is working for you.

How much does it cost?

The initial consultation is $275 (60 minutes, no acupuncture — this is where we find the pattern). Subsequent acupuncture sessions are $145. Compassionate Inquiry sessions are $275. Acupuncture is claimable with most private health funds that include extras cover.
